Insurance

Within the first 30 days you must add your newborn to your medical insurance.

Depending on your insurance provider you may:

  • Call member services using the phone number on the back of your insurance card. Let them know you just had a baby and would like to add your baby to your plan. They will guide you through this process.
  • Contact the benefits or human resources department at your Employer. Let them know you just had a baby and would like to add your baby to your plan. They will guide you through this process.
  • Go to New York State Health Plan Marketplace (Exchange) https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov/

Car Seats

Selecting a car seat is an important choice. Information about types of car seats, installation and more may be found on healthychildren.org. Monroe county maintains a list of car seat installation check locations. They also offer virtual appointments.

Feeding

Every baby is unique. Most newborns typically eat every few hours. General guidelines for feeding may be found on healthychildren.org.
